Old Town Seal Beach is best known for its quaint Main Street, wooden pier, and warm sandy beaches. Often described as Mayberry by the sea, the close-knit feel of this community is similar to what people experience in the midwest.

Old Town is the oldest neighborhood in Seal Beach (hence the name), and thus the architecture of homes varies greatly. Most of the homes are on narrow lots (25′ x 117′) which have resulted in various styles of construction over the years to suit the increasing demand for more interior space.

A few of the reasons people say they love living in Old Town is the ability to walk to nearby activities, neighbors that wave when you drive down the street, and the strong sense of community. Old Town is the place where the mailman knows you and your family by your first name. The Police will wave when they drive by and neighbors stop to chat on the street or in the corner market.

The charm of Old Town is demonstrated throughout the year with various seasonal events such as the classic car show, summer concerts, and Christmas parade along with many others. Of course, one of the favorite activities among residents is grabbing a board and surfing the local breaks.

Though the focal point of this neighborhood is the beach, Old Town has several other open spaces to enjoy such as the Green Belt. This stretch of park runs the length of eleven city blocks and is paralleled on either side by Electric Avenue. It even features historical interests such as the Seal Beach Red Car Museum and an original beach bungalow.

Main Street offers many different restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and merchants where residents and visitors enjoy shopping and gathering for fun. For reasons unknown, there is a strong Irish influence on the street with exactly four Irish-themed pubs. Of these, O’Malley’s on Main is the largest and only pub offering an enclosed patio with a wishing well and fireplace.
